In January of 2014, I attended The Interior Design Show in Toronto, Ontario as part of the Creative Class with the University of Alberta. As a whole we wanted our display to include eight chairs representing 80% of Lodgepole Pine Trees that will be dead by the end of 2013. My chair, built in collaboration with Julie Sikora and Danielle Soneff, demonstrates that even after the beetles have left their mark on the pine, the wood that remains functional and has beautiful blue-gray striation through it. The lamination displays the strong graphic qualities of the grain accentuated by the bold shapes in our design.
